Summary: With natural resources dwindling and landfills growing, it
is necessary and quite easy to recycle.
Author's statement:
The consumer lifestyle is one of continually bringing
products home, then deciding what to do with the packaging.
Most of the products in a supermarket are packaged in
recyclable material and the choice to recycle it when
finished is simple.
In most communities there is a collection system,
similar to garbage collection. Rather than irresponsibly
throwing recyclables in the trash, one should seperate them
out. Product manufacturers package items in recyclable
material because it is wasteful, inefficient and polluting to
use materials that will end up cramming landfills.
If the packaging industry can reclaim a good percentage
of recycled packages, fewer natural resources will be
necessary, and overcrowding decomposing matter in landfills
will pollute the environment less.
Recycling plastic containers, aluminum, and paper
products is a beneficial practice which positively effects
the purity of our environment and dwindling natural
resources.
