Summary: By simply cleaning that dirty filter in your air conditioner, you can save 5% of the energy used and reduce carbon dioxide.
Author's statement:
Carbon dioxide depletes ozone which filters out ultra-violet
rays. If the ozone layer becomes damaged the earth will
lose its protection from the sun and begin to warm. Changing
or cleaning an air conditioner filter reduces carbon
dioxide by 175 pounds a year.
