Summary: Cooking healthy, delicious meals for yourself and your family saves money, wastes less packaging, and insures the food contains only what you want it to. It's also extremely rewarding!
Author's statement:
Cooking your own meals is great! It means you know
what went in, especially if you use organic whole foods.
It also means you can have a leftovers sandwich the next
day instead of spending another $5 on junk food. You'll
waste less (to-go containers, disposable silverware,
paper napkins, etc.), and you can be sure your cooking
and cleanup are environmentally conscious. Especially
for us veg*ans, learning to cook can mean an escape
from the frustration of eating out ("Is cheese okay?")
and the monotony of eating in ("Mmm... veggie burgers
again..."). Your body and your family will thank you, and
the satisfaction of sitting down to a well-prepared meal
you made yourself beats eating out any day.
