Summary: Voting allows one to be represented on issues and in choosing
candidates, and it encourages one to be informed of local,
state, and national political issues.
Author's statement:
In this era of economic stability, it is of paramount
importance to stay informed on political issues such as:
social security, taxation, surplus spending, military and
humanitarian aide. We all will be affected by these issues in
the future and should be represented by a vote. If one's vote
isn't counted on issues, one will be forced to accept
consequences silently. One should vote and take an active
role and if one is not pleased with the outcome, one has more
of a right to bitch.
Large corportations are gobbled up by larger ones,
politicians are ever-increasingly at risk of being expected
to give preferential treatment to powerful lobbies and large
contributors. It is increasingly important that individuals
stay informed and take part in deciding what happens
politically. One does have a voice - vote.
