His extensive Military background includes serving as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Southern Command and Supreme Allied Commander of NATO. As Supreme Allied Commander, General Clark actually commanded forces during the war in Kosovo. A war which was won by using air power alone and resulted in not one single allied combat death! Historian David Halberstam wrote of Clark, "On the military side, the dominant figure had been Wes Clark. To no small degree, he had broken ranks with the Pentagon because of his belief that America had to act at certain moments to be the nation it believed it was."
He is a highly educated and intelligent man. Among his many accomplishments are that he graduated first in the US Military Academy at West Point in 1966. He studied at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and received his Masters Degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. In 1974, Wes Clark attended the US Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Levenworth, Kansas and was awarded a Masters of Military Arts and Science degree. In 1976 he worked as a White House Fellow and served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget where his work led James T. Lynn in the Office of Management and Budget to state, "Major Clark is the most able White House Fellow I have known during my seven years in Washington. He brought to his work a brilliant mind and rare common sense. He has initiative, style, imagination, moral courage, and integrity each in extraordinary degree. He has a rare sensitivity to others and a remarkable ability to motivate and lead them. He is totally dedicated to public service as a military officer."
Throughout his military career Wes was praised for his exceptional abilities:
In 1977, Colonel Charles G Prather IV stated, "He is unquestionably one in a million. A professional whose perceptions are correct, whose plans are thorough and complete, whose executions are artistic, and whose success is inevitable. I have never been more impressed with an officer's talent and dedication. He should rank with men like Douglas MacArthur, Maxwell Taylor, Creighton Abrams."
General Colin Powell in 1982 said, "Wes Clark has been a superb battalion commander and will be a superb brigade commander. He is an officer of the rarest potential and will clearly rise to senior general officer rank. He will be one of the Army's leaders in the 1990's."
General Clark has a plan for America and a vision for our future that I believe is far more consistent with American values than that of George W. Bush. To see his vision and his plan please go to his web site at www.clark04.com

If you are supporting one of the other democratic candidates I would like to take just another moment of your time and tell you why I think Wes Clark is the absolute best chance we have of defeating Bush.
Please join me in supporting Wes Clark. He is the right man at the right time!
