I've heard a lot recently about how
eating red meat is not really bad for you
and that high fat/high protein diets
are healthy. I think these people are
missing the point. Even if eating meat
were the best thing for an individual's
health, it is still *wrong*.

The one question I'd like for all of the
meat proponents to consider is:

Can 6 billion people eat this way?

The answer is an obvious no. The planet
cannot support it. The planet cannot even
support the current level of meat consumption.

The simple fact is that if you eat meat,
you are depriving somebody else in the
world of the ability to eat anything. You
are using so much of the world's resources
to 'grow' your food, that there is no
room left for other people to grow theirs.

So, then next time you are digging into a
steak and thinking about how 'healthy' it
is, take a moment to consider how your
health is coming at the expense of some
of your fellow humans.
