i used to ride horses for fun in the summer. because knollwood is so close to my lakehouse my cousins and i decided to go to thier horse camp. one day while i was doing something at the brush box my horse turned around and bit me hard in the back. i told the lady in charge of the camp and she got really pissed. it didnt matter to her even when my partner admitted doing something that must have set him off. she ordered us out of the stall and preceeded to beat and kick the poor thing especially around the face. i was horrified. the next year my horse wouldnt pick up his foot for me to clean. the same lady came in and started kneeing his stomach. i admit im not a horseback riding expert. but i know this is no way to treat an animal. if this is the only effective way to punish a horse, then maybe we shouldn't be riding them. it was a disturbing experience for us campers and im sure for the horses too. My cousins who live in wisconsin and are year round intensive riders said they stopped going there after they saw someone use a bat on a horse. im sad to say it didnt surprise me. i believe a lot of you have good experiences at this place, but i cant imagine ever going back or advising someone to go there.
