Queen Biography
Queen formed in the early 1970's with Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums), Freddie Mercury (vocals) and John Deacon (bass). They signed with EMI Records in 1972 and their first release was the single, "Keep Yourself Alive", followed by a self-titled album, neither of which were commercial successes. Their next single and album, "Seven Seas Of Rhye" and Queen II were both hits and the follow up, 1975's Sheer Heart Attack continued their rise. "Killer Queen" from the album was their first American hit. Queen's success continued with the huge hit "Bohemian Rhapsody", and more hit singles and albums such as A Night At The Opera, A Day At The Races "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions", News Of The World), "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "Another One Bites The Dust", The Game, the soundtrack to Flash Gordon, and 1981's "Under Pressure" (with David Bowie).

Queen took a break while the member's worked on solo projects and returned in 1984 with the hit "Radio Gaga." At this point, their success began to lag in the US, but they remained hugely popular in the UK and much of the rest of the world with the albums A Kind of Magic and The Miracle. 1991's Innuendo was a bit of a comeback for the band in the US, going gold in America. However it would be their last new album proper as Freddie Mercury died in November 1991 of AIDS. The song "Bohemian Rhapsody" was re-released in 1992 after appearing in the movie Wayne's World and became a US hit again, charting higher than it had originally in 1976. One last Queen album, Made In Heaven, was released in 1995 with the band finishing off vocal tracks Mercury recorded while ill.
