Metallica has defined metal for almost 20 years.  They continue
to enjoy massive popularity because they write music for themselves.
Many people accuse them of selling out, but the simple fact is 
most of there tunes still rip and they're now influencing a 3rd
generation of music fans.

I agree that they're missing the bigger point with Napster and I also 
think they'll come around.  Chuck-D gets it and Lars will too.
As music moves to a more easily accesible "live" format (web-based 
concerts), they revenue for bands will likely shift.

The real people "for whom the bell tolls" is the labels themselve. 
They've been living high on the hog for years!!
So, Metallica will continue to rock, becuase thats what they do 
baby!!
