I have to say, right up front, that the pictures on those sites
were heartbraking. Especially the pictures of the children who were
injured or killed. They all must have been terrified when the bombs
were dropping or, in the case of the Bosnia pictures, when the "police"
were killing them.
Anyone who has half a heart can't look at those pictures and not be
hurt by them. You have a point in your posting. It's hard to look
at the reality of war and then be for a given war.
Now, and I want to sensitive here, where are the pictures of all the
people Saddam and his regime have murdered over the last 25 years?
Sometimes, war is the only way to remove people like him from power.
I spent 8 years in the US Army, and served during the first Gulf War,
but thankfully did not get deployed to Iraq.
The pictures from Bosnia were a case for going to war. It was the
evil government of Milosevic who murdered these people and without
the intervention of the US, he might still be in power having innocent
families killed.
The world is an ugly place sometimes and sometimes the only way to
stop long-term suffering of people is to have a short term military
solution (i.e. war). Nobody I know likes war or is even for war. Its
just that many of us believe that there are times when it is the lesser
of two evils.
"All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing."
God bless you and know that your posting has had an impact on me.
