Paul Reubens - Artist
Paul spent his childhood in Peekskill New York. As a child Paul was a huge fan of the circus. Aged 11 he joined the Aslo Theatre, he performed in a number of plays with them he remained a member for 6 years. In 1970 Paul graduated high school.
After 1 year of university he decided to go and become a star in Hollywood, so he joined the California Institute of Arts.
During the mid 70's Paul had a few TV appearances, including 'The Gong Show' on which he performed 4 times. He then joined a comedy troupe called 'The Groundlings' other members include Lisa Kudrow, Conan O'Brien and Phil Hartman. During this time Paul developed the role he is most famous for, 'Pee Wee Herman'.
Pee Wee formed a large following.
In 1981 the reality of the nerdy child like character became apparent to Paul when he was given his own show, The Pee Wee Herman Show. For the first 5 months every show was a sell out.
'Pee Wee's Playhouse' was cancelled when Paul had a run in with the law for indecent doings in a cinema.
