I, a professional photographer, understand exactly what you are saying. I cannot imagine not having my negatives and prints. However, the chemistry used in processing film is very toxic. I do believe that there are situations where a digital camera is the way to go. For instance: happy snaps, anything shot solely for the web, light proofs, research shots, some police work, real estate images of houses for sale, print catalogs, magazines, passport and ID photos, etc.
