The J. Paul Getty Museum is an operating program of the J. Paul Getty Trust. The Museum's goal is to make the collection meaningful and attractive to a broad audience by presenting and interpreting the collection through educational programs, special exhibitions, publications, conservation, and research.

The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center houses European paintings, drawings, sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, decorative arts, and European and American photographs.

The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Villa in Malibu will open in the winter of 2006 after the completion of a major construction project that has been preparing the Los Angeles landmark for a new mission. The Getty Villa will serve as an international educational center dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The galleries will house over 1,500 works of art from the Museum's extensive collection of Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities, which comprises approximately 50,000 objects in total.

With two locations, the Getty will be able to serve a wide variety of audiences through its expanded range of exhibitions and programming in the visual arts.
