Do I understand that being a "gentleperson" has something to do
with which side of the sidewalk one chooses to walk on, and
whether or not one talks about with whom one is sexually intimate?
These are very different activities, does one code of
behavior--being "gentle"--really cover it all? Who decides
what is "proper social conduct?" From where I stand, no one
walks on the "proper" side of the street or pulls my chair out
for me and everyone is talking about who they are doing it with,
so if everyone is doing it wrong, whose to say?
ME! I am gentle to myself.
I want to see people being more real with others, not just
following the social rule-book. Opening a door for me is great
but are you really listening to me when I speak? Now that is a
gentleperson.
